Serving In

“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:20

Our mission is simple and urgent: to make Christlike disciples in Thailand.

Steve and Rebecca Barber have served in missions with the Church of the Nazarene for over 10 years and are now Globally Commissioned Missionaries. They live and serve in Satuek, Thailand, where they are actively engaged in church planting and discipleship.

Both Steve and Rebecca were raised in Christian homes and were deeply involved in church life from a young age. Their shared passion for serving God is what first brought them together. In 2001, Steve was leading a small group Bible study when he met Rebecca, who was serving in Central Asia teaching English and sharing the Good News. After she returned to the United States, they were married and began building a life centered on ministry and discipleship.

Over the years, they served faithfully in their local church, Grand Rapids International Fellowship (GRIF) in Michigan (United States). Steve ministered to urban youth and taught English Language Learners, while Rebecca was a prayer partner for the youth group, served as mission council president, and participated in a JESUS Film mission trip to Nicaragua. Through these experiences and taking the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement class, God deepened their burden for the nations.

That calling eventually led them to Thailand. In the Isaan region, where they now serve, only about 0.1% of the population is Christian. The need for evangelism and discipleship is immense.

Today, Steve and Rebecca focus on planting churches and developing disciples who can multiply throughout their communities. Steve is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene and has also developed “Rooster Media,” a ministry initiative that uses print, video, websites, and mobile apps to equip and encourage discipleship within the Thai church. Each year, Rooster Media distributes thousands of evangelistic and discipleship books to both children and adults, helping to place biblical truth directly into the hands of those who are seeking to know Christ.

Rebecca serves as the Field Member Care Coordinator, where she invests in the health and well-being of missionaries across the field. Her passion is to see missionaries thrive—emotionally, spiritually, and physically—so they can serve effectively for the long term.

Together, the Barbers are committed to raising up strong, Christlike disciples and healthy leaders who will carry the gospel forward in Thailand. Will you join us? We are looking for those God is calling to partner with us to grow the Kingdom of God through prayer, short/long trips, skills, or finances. If you want to help change the world, please contact us!
