The Morais Family: Called to Serve at All Times and in Every Place

The Morais family has its roots in the islands of Cabo Verde, in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of the African continent. The family consists of a missionary couple and their two children, Jonathan Gabriel and Rafaela Ayana. Together, they have dedicated their lives to Christian service and the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

After eight years living in Brazil, where they pursued theological studies and engaged in ministry, they returned to Cabo Verde, where they faithfully served in various areas of ministry for more than a decade. Now, they have responded to a new calling and are serving as Global Missionaries on the African continent, with a focus on education, leadership development, and ecclesiastical statistics.

An ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene since 2010, Dr. Oziel Morais holds a PhD in Policy and Administration of Educational Systems and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies, with an emphasis on Strategic Church Development. Over the past 20 years, he has served in pastoral ministry and worked as a university professor, researcher, trainer, and leadership mentor, as well as Academic Director of the Nazarene Seminary of Cabo Verde. He also served as the Nazarene Education Coordinator for the former Lusophone Field in Africa. Through his personal project, the Leadership Institute, he has trained and mentored leaders in different parts of the world. He currently serves as a Global Missionary, coordinating ministerial education in Portuguese-speaking countries, with particular attention to the challenge of providing theological training for approximately 70% of pastors and lay leaders in Mozambique and Angola who do not yet have formal theological training. He also collaborates with other Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa.

With a Master's degree in Mathematics, Nélida Morais has extensive experience as a secondary school teacher and has developed a pastoral ministry deeply connected to care, compassion, discipleship, and district financial auditing. She is a licensed pastor in the Northern District of Cabo Verde and has served as District Compassion Ministries Coordinator, district financial auditor, and in several other ministry roles.

Today, as a Global Missionary, she is responsible for statistics and data supporting the strategic development of the Church of the Nazarene in Mozambique and Angola, contributing to the effectiveness of projects and the sustainable growth of the mission. The couple's children are also part of this missionary journey. Jonathan Gabriel is in 10th grade, while Rafaela Ayana is in 3rd grade. Both are adapting and growing as they experience a new cultural and educational environment.

A Família Morais: Chamados para Servir em Todo o Tempo e em Todo o Lugar

A família Morais tem as suas raízes nas ilhas de Cabo Verde, no coração do Oceano Atlântico, na costa ocidental do continente africano. Composta por um casal missionário e os seus dois filhos, Jonathan Gabriel e Rafaela Ayana, a família tem dedicado a sua vida ao serviço cristão e à expansão do Reino de Deus.

Depois de oito anos a viver no Brasil, entre estudos teológicos e atividade ministerial, regressaram a Cabo Verde, onde, durante mais de uma década, serviram fielmente em diversas áreas do ministério. Agora, responderam a um novo chamado e servem como missionários globais no continente africano, com foco nas áreas de educação, liderança e estatística eclesiástica.

Presbítero ordenado na Igreja do Nazareno desde 2010, o Dr. Oziel Morais possui um PhD em Política e Administração de Sistemas Educacionais e um Mestrado em Ciências da Religião, com ênfase no Desenvolvimento Estratégico da Igreja. Ao longo dos últimos 20 anos, tem exercido o ministério pastoral, atuado como professor universitário, investigador, formador e mentor de líderes, além de ter servido como diretor académico do Seminário Nazareno de Cabo Verde. Foi também coordenador da educação nazarena no antigo Campo Lusófono em África e, através do seu projeto pessoal, o Instituto de Liderança, tem formado e acompanhado líderes em diferentes partes do mundo. Atualmente, serve como missionário global, coordenando a educação ministerial nos países lusófonos, com especial atenção ao desafio de formar cerca de 70% dos pastores e líderes leigos que ainda não possuem formação teológica em Moçambique e Angola, além de cooperar com outros países lusófonos de África.

Com um Mestrado em Matemática, Nélida Morais tem uma longa experiência como professora do ensino secundário e desenvolve um ministério pastoral profundamente ligado ao cuidado, à compaixão, ao discipulado e à auditoria financeira distrital. É pastora licenciada pelo Distrito Norte de Cabo Verde, tendo servido como coordenadora distrital do Ministério de Compaixão, auditora financeira do distrito, entre outras funções.

Atualmente, como missionária global, é responsável pelas estatísticas e pelos dados para o desenvolvimento estratégico da Igreja do Nazareno em Moçambique e Angola, contribuindo para a eficácia dos projetos e para o crescimento sustentável da missão. Os filhos do casal acompanham os pais nesta jornada missionária. Jonathan Gabriel frequenta o 10.º ano e Rafaela Ayana o 3.º ano. Ambos estão em processo de adaptação e crescimento, imersos numa nova realidade cultural e educativa.
