Serving In

Leadership Development in Kiswahili Speaking Communities

Elijah and Martha have accepted a call from God to serve in the largest Kiswahili speaking country in the world! It is a journey that began in 2019, when Elijah sensed a call to full-time missionary work with a special focus on training ministers leading Kiswahili speaking congregations. Their passion is to develop preachers and teachers of the message of Holiness across the Republic of Tanzania and other Kiswahili speaking communities across the world.

In his early years of ministry, Elijah served as a vice president of NYI district ministry, a church planter, and a pastor. He was ordained as an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in the year 1995. For 10 years (2002-2012), he served as the District Superintendent for the Kenya Eastern District, and he is presently the Director of the Nazarene Bible College of East Africa, an adjunct lecturer at Africa Nazarene University, an associate pastor of the local church, and the Africa East Field education coordinator.

Martha comes from a pastoral family and sensed the call from God in her early years. She was ordained an elder in the Church of the Nazarene in the year 2010. Martha serves alongside her husband, focusing mainly on women and children ministries. She is a trained minister and a social worker, and has been involved in various community development programs. She is also an experienced translator of English materials to Kiswahili language.

Martha and Elijah are blessed with three daughters; Gladwel, Faith and Grace. They were all born and raised in Kenya, and are moving to Tanzania in 01 June, 2024 to serve as global missionaries.

Please pray with this family as they work towards identifying a convenient residential location and leaders to serve along with. Pray that the Lord will also provide them with wisdom and resources to use in their new ministry.

“Let us not become weary in doing good,

for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

(Galatians 6:9, NIV)
