In the Horn of Africa, part of the Africa East Field, many families survive on less than two dollars a day. Rural farmers and their families have an even more vulnerable existence as they rely on seasonal rains to feed their families and make a living (subsistence farming).
This much-needed project serves as a practical income-generating effort for Nazarenes in need in the Horn and their neighbors. Living can be vastly improved by providing animals such as chickens, goats, sheep, cows, and even camels.
While always dependent on the market, approximate costs are:
Cow - $800
Sheep and goats - $100
A small flock of chickens - $50
A donation of any size would be a blessing. When possible, a pregnant female animal will be purchased, and its offspring will be given to another needy family in Jesus' name. Simple, self-sustaining projects like this can significantly alleviate poverty and share the love of Jesus Christ in tangible and meaningful ways.
As a global church body, we have been empowered to act as Jesus's hands and feet on earth. Matthew 25:35-40 clearly states that each time we give food, clothing, or shelter to our neighbors in need, we are serving Christ in our midst and fulfilling His greatest commandment to love our neighbors as Christ loved us. Our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Horn of Africa with the Church of the Nazarene have Christ-like spirits of generosity and a heart of compassion to meet their neighbors' needs. This project serves to enhance that ability so they can expand their efforts.
Will you be a part of this practical help for our brothers and sisters in the Horn of Africa?
