Our beloved church has stood strong since the early 1960s, serving as a place of worship, community, and music for generations. Now, the time has come to renew and refresh our sacred space to ensure it continues to thrive for decades to come!
Many elements of our church—its flooring, waterproofing, pews, and platform—have remained unchanged since its construction. While they’ve stood the test of time, they now need refurbishment. A crucial part of this project is the removal of any remaining asbestos, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all. We’ve already completed much of this work, but the heart of our sanctuary—the chancel—still needs attention.
Beyond structural improvements, we’re also looking to enhance the experience of our congregation by upgrading our loudspeaker system, making worship services more accessible, especially for our elderly members.
Our sanctuary is more than just a building—it’s a vibrant hub for worship, culture, and community. It hosts services for a German-speaking congregation, an Amharic-speaking Ethiopian congregation, and occasionally an Eritrean congregation. It’s also a gathering place for Protestant churches from the northern part of our city, bringing people together in faith and fellowship.
But that’s not all! The sanctuary echoes with the sounds of music every week—a Latvian choir rehearses here, local musicians give piano, violin, and voice lessons, and three of our church’s music groups practice within these walls. Even our children’s daycare center brings the space to life with beautiful performances, such as nativity plays.
To bring this vision to life, we’re relying on a mix of generous donors from both within and beyond our parish. While part of the funding will come from our congregation’s income, the spirit of giving and shared responsibility will help make this dream a reality.
The renovation is planned to unfold in thoughtful stages, starting in 2025 and continuing through 2026. This approach ensures that we can manage each phase carefully while maintaining the church’s ongoing activities.
Together, let’s build a bright future for our church—one that honors its past while embracing the needs of today and tomorrow!
