There is a long history of Work and Witness (within Nazarene Missions Teams) ministry in Nicaragua. There is a truck without proper papers from the 1990s that does not run, but other than that, there is no vehicle to facility the ministry. Vehicles at this point are rented when teams are in the country, but that is costly and does not allow for project preparation in a timely way. The Nazarene Missions Teams coordinator, who is a volunteer from Nicaragua, has used his personal vehicle when a truck was needed.
It costs at least $100 / day to rent a truck. Many teams are about 10 days, meaning with a single team it costs $1,000 to rent it. Coming out of the pandemic, there is an increased interest Missions Teams in Nicaragua, and this is an increasing need.
They have identified a well-maintained truck that will meet the needs of the ministry. It has served as a Work & Witness vehicle in another country, and the coordinator is willing to help the ministry in Nicaragua by selling it at a competitive price. The cover photo above is of the truck they hope to purchase. The type of vehicle holds its value very in Nicaragua. Even after it no longer serves W&W well, it will be able to be sold for a good price to invest later in another vehicle.
