Ministry leaders working in two key areas of the country of Georgia are making key connections to help make Christlike disciples and grow the church through a house church moment. They are leading the foundational work of the church through personal contacts, relationship building, small group gatherings, and Bible studies.
Indigenous, Georgian-speaking leadership is a key to success in the places where the church is the strongest in the country. That requires significant time and energy to travel between locations and facilitate consistent contact via digital means. Their frequent presence in homes and familiarity with the people foster a positive atmosphere in the groups, making it easier for people to truly grow in their faith.
In Tbilisi it’s important to reach into the neighborhoods and homes of young families of the capital city. Through the use of a neighborhood ministry center called The Open Door Center, we are trying to do just that. Through English Kid’s clubs, life and leadership coaching, English classes and community engagement events, we are developing contact groups with the desire to develop these into churches.
Regular, in person contact is a challenge because of the geography, but we must prioritize intentional relationship building, both in person and digitally, to help these groups grow into vibrant house churches in the future. This project will help support the rent and travel costs, as well as the offerings of the Open Door Center. The project will be evaluated at the close of the fiscal year for effectiveness and any necessary adjustments.
