This project is to improve the facilities that house the Kiatine Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). This is a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Children Development Center.
The Kiatine Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) project helps to support orphaned, abandoned and abused children in the local community. This project was initiated by Kiatine Church of the Nazarene in 2006 after several members passed away from HIV/AIDS. The number of orphans in the church increased, and many had no relatives to care for them.
Kiatine Church initiated a plan to take in the orphans and house them at the Church with the aim to provide for them home-based care, education and spiritual nurturing.
With time, the number of orphaned children increased and new cases of abandoned and abused children were referred from the local community. Having more children to support led us to start child development center. As of late 2022, the Kiatine Center serves 180 children.
This project is to improve the physical facilities for the children, giving more space for housing, classes and recreation.
