My soul has long resonated with the prophet Joel's heart-felt cry in 3:14 for the "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision." And never have I felt the pathos of that cry more strongly than among the multitudinous crowds of Asia. Given that less than 3% of the population of my city here have come to faith in Christ, I undoubtedly see or walk past more people in need of a Savior in one day here than among the total population of the place I call my hometown in Illinois. The scope of need here could be completely overwhelming were it not for the great God we serve, for whom nothing is impossible. The task He has given me for my part is simple -- to teach students and to love each one He puts in front of me with all His unconditional love I can give. As the Lord brings the work here to mind, be obedient, whether in prayer, in giving, or in service. And I give thanks for whatever partnership you have with me in the gospel.
