Our family life verses are Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” We seek to live this out in our ministries on the Philippine/Micronesia Field.
David serves as the Field Education Coordinator for the Philippines/Micronesia Field and helps with regional education development. Rhonda serves as the Member Care (Missionary Care) Field Coordinator and Micronesia District NMI President. Together, they serve as pastoral leaders and leadership/discipleship developers at the Guam First Church of the Nazarene.
The Ackermans were Global Missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene from 1999 to 2008. They spent over seven years at Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in the Philippines, where David was Professor of New Testament and Rhonda was part time campus nurse and involved in various ministries. They also served at Nazarene Theological College in Australia, where David was Lecturer in Bible and Rhonda assisted in campus ministries. David has been a pastor in Idaho, Wyoming, Australia, and Colorado. The Ackermans returned to the Philippines in 2016 and relocated to Guam in 2019 where they presently live.
David and Rhonda have two children. Their daughter, Shan, graduated from high school in 2015 and lives with them. Her special ministry and calling is working with children and youth. Joel graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 2020 with a Biology degree. He lives in Boise, Idaho, and has been enjoying developing a videography-photography business with his business partner. His interests include weight lifting, traveling to new places, and telling stories through his lens.
David has written several books, including the New Beacon Bible Commentary on 1, 2 Timothy and Titus. He writes a daily devotional blog and is publishing this in a commentary series. He graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in 1989, Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1992, and earned a Ph.D. in 2000 in Religious Studies (Biblical Interpretation) at Iliff School of Theology and the University of Denver.
Rhonda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Compassionate Ministries in 1989 from Northwest Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1992 from Rockhurst University and Research College of Nursing. She is a Registered Nurse and completed a certificate in Parish Nursing. Her passion is to come alongside people and help them grow in the Lord. She enjoys serving in missions where she has been able to utilize her nursing skills, leadership skills, Bible learning, strengths, and gifts to help people. Both Rhonda and David are ordained elders in the Church of the Nazarene.
Their vision is to see the church strengthened and the gospel preached through trained and dedicated local leaders.
Please automatically charge my future gifts on the following day:
A pledge is any amount you commit to give to support a missionary, even if you are not prepared to give in full right now. You can set up a recurring gift or give on your own schedule to fulfill your pledge, either through this site or with a check. Pledging an amount even before you are able to give it allows a missionary to count on your future support.
