Harlan and Barbi Moore are members of Bethany First Nazarene Church (BFC) in Oklahoma, United States, where Harlan is retired from nearly 23 years as Minister of Worship Arts, and Barbi serves on staff as Director of Global Outreach.
The Eswatini Partnership is a cooperative association of churches, universities, and businesses who have aligned themselves to partner with the Church of the Nazarene in its mission in the nation of Eswatini. Each year (except during the years of Covid) since its founding in 2008 under the vision of then-pastor Dr. David Busic and Southern Nazarene University (SNU) President Dr. Loren Gresham, members of BFC have chosen to live for a year or more in Eswatini to further relationships and assist in projects that are directed by Nazarene leadership in Eswatini. The Moores are the 11th volunteer couple or OnSite Coordinators to serve in this capacity.
Harlan has been a worship leader for the nearly 50 years of his ministry, leading worship in churches in California, Illinois, Colorado, Tennessee, and Oklahoma in addition to serving for five years as Director of the Lillenas Publishing Company in Kansas City. He is a 1973 graduate of SNU with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, and was ordained in the Nazarene Church in 1989. He furthered his education at the Robert Webber Institute of Worship Studies with both masters and doctorate degrees in Worship Studies. In 2009, Harlan along with musicians from both BFC and Eswatini produced the album/video project Hallelujah Swaziland: Two Nations, One Voice, which merged live and recorded music and video from both countries and was performed in both the US (2009) and Eswatini (2013). Harlan loves to sing with Barbi, play piano, arrange and orchestrate music, and travel.
Barbi started international work in East and West Africa and Eastern Europe in 1986 with I CARE Ministries in Nashville. She was hired as the first employee of Heart to Heart International in Olathe, Kansas in 1992, eventually becoming Senior Vice-President of International Programs with over 90 projects in 25 countries of the world. Barbi then became Director of Global Outreach at BFC in 2009 working with mission partnerships with Eswatini churches, health and educational institutions. Over these years she has seen more than 800 people serve on short-term teams to Eswatini. She is a 1993 graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University with a degree in Management of Human Relations, and was awarded an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from SNU in 2014. Barbi serves on the board of the Foundation for Evangelism, assisting in developing leaders with a passion for evangelism around the world. Barbi also loves singing with Harlan, spending time with friends and family, and serving the Lord wherever she’s needed.
