After three years of struggling with traditional church planting methods in Phoenix, the leadership of Trinitas Church of the Nazarene began to ask fresh questions about how to more effectively live out the church's mission in an urban context. These questions led to a transformative shift in 2018, as a growing network of missional communities emerged—focused on relational, incarnational ministry embedded in the daily lives of those they serve.
These communities now reach a wide range of underserved populations, including individuals in transitional housing, veterans, urban youth, people in prisons, families of the incarcerated, those with special needs, individuals in rehab, refugees, women in crisis, and unhoused people. Remarkably, Trinitas does not pay rent for any of its ministry spaces, resulting in a financially sustainable model with profound spiritual impact.
From this home base, the Trinitas network has expanded through church plants that mirror its decentralized, community-based model. Since launching its first church plant in 2023, Trinitas has partnered with Nazarene districts across the U.S. and internationally to plant, relaunch, or remission 17 churches into urban contexts and among marginalized people groups. Nearly 150 decisions for Christ were recorded in Phoenix alone in 2024.
We now invite you to join us in the next phase of this vision: planting nine new urban churches in underserved communities. With a commitment of $10,000 per church, your partnership will provide vital resources for outreach, evangelism, discipleship, and the development of sustainable ministry.
As we grow, Trinitas remains committed to:
• Coaching and mentoring church planters
• Fostering connection and collaboration among the church planters
• Sharing best practices across contexts
• Providing pastoral care and support
• Serving Nazarene districts nationwide beyond our own interests
We believe God has shown us an efficient and impactful model of urban church planting rooted in our Nazarene identity. We invite you to partner with us in this mission to bring the hope and message of Jesus to the margins and to establish vibrant faith communities for generations to come.
