The Church of the Nazarene in Huito presents an innovative initiative that combines spiritual outreach with sustainable economic development. This project, grounded in our Nazarene missions, aims to evangelize communities in the province of Pastaza through the production and commercialization of handcrafted items made from thorny oysters (mullos) and Amazonian seeds.

By empowering local artisans, especially women, the project will strengthen community capacities, promote cultural heritage, and create new income opportunities. At its core is community evangelization, which serves as the driving force behind two additional components: artisanal production and artisanal marketing.

Participants will receive training, raw materials, and support for selling their crafts, which is an essential step, given the marketing challenges in remote communities. A Christian artisan skilled in using natural Amazonian materials will lead these training sessions, working closely with local families and the Women’s Ministry of the Church of the Nazarene.

Evangelism will be integrated into all stages of the project; through group workshops, individual home visits, and ongoing spiritual mentorship. It will be ensuring that both hearts and hands are nurtured.

This strategy will initially serve Churches of the Nazarene in jungle communities such as Huito, Villano, Santa Clara (Kadosh), Pindus, Veracruz, and Canelos, with the goal of expanding throughout the Amazon region. By equipping pastors and congregations with this holistic approach, the project opens new pathways to share the gospel while promoting dignity, purpose, and sustainability in vulnerable communities.
