The Kingdom of God is continuing to grow in the Melanesia South Pacific Field through the faithful work of the brothers and sisters committed to taking the gospel into new communities. This field includes Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, the Western and American Samoa, and Tonga. Though the Church of the Nazarene has been ministering in PNG for over 60 years, Vanuatu for 16 years, and Solomon Islands 24 years, there are still many remote areas are still unreached or under developed. The pioneering work of the church is still ahead of us!
In 2021, field and district leaders sent 9 local missionaries to pioneer mission work in PNG, and two more are preparing to be send. In the same year, field leaders partnered with leaders in Vanuatu to send two pastor couples to Espiritu Santos island and Tana island.
These missionaries, and the ones who will follow, are answering the call to make Christlike disciplines, building meaningful relationships in new communities in order to see lives transformed by God. There are many opportunities to partner with communities in ways relevant to their contexts, whether that is through educational efforts, health care programs or clinics, or other methods.
This project includes the basic living costs of local missionaries, and operating cost to plant and develop the church. The plan includes sending tent makers, teachers, health workers in short term roles to partner in these remote communities.
This is a five-year project with an estimated annual need of $10,000.
