Nairobi Huruma Fellowship Centre, which began in March 2013, is focused on urban ministry in Nairobi, Kenya. Huruma means Mercy or Compassion in Swahili. The Centre’s ministry is focused on sharing the gospel with those in their community who do not know Jesus.
Out of that ministry, the New Huruma Nazarene Church was planted in 2022 in the Eastleigh community. New Huruma Nazarene started as one of five house Bible study groups amongst the gospel-resistant community in the east part of Nairobi. The New Huruma Church is planting more new churches in the east part of Nairobi from Nairobi River to Thika River, a 60 km area where the church has never been.
The New Huruma Nazarene Church members are growing by God's grace. As of early 2024, the current membership is 30 people, both adults and children. The church is ministering in many different ways. There are weekly services, weekly new leadership training, evangelism and discipleship programs, monthly Jesus Film showings, and a refugee skill workshop for women. They also have a mini holiness library with Wesleyan literature in different major languages, including Swahili, Amharic, English, Tigrynga and Borana.
As of 2024, The New Huruma Nazarene Church is planning for a permanent fellowship and training center facility to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and expand the Kingdom of God on the east side of the greater Nairobi area. This project will help to fund that effort along with the combined efforts from Alabaster gifts and other ministry partners. Will you help support this active and growing church in Nairobi?
