This project was born in response to our mission as Nazarenes to prepare Christ-like disciples in the nations. This church, Los Angeles Church of the Nazarene, is in San José, Costa Rica. It is a community in great need. Problems with education, use of illegal substances, violence, few job opportunities and lack of safe spaces for recreation are among many needs that afflict families in this area every day.

As a church, we believe that God's call goes beyond our Sunday services, and we want to show God's love in a holistic manner to our community. For this reason, we have developed an ambitious plan to reach the different groups of people that make up our area of responsibility for the coming years.

The first step is to purchase a 30,000 square foot piece of land strategically located next to our current facility. On the lower flat section of this lot, we will build a Multipurpose Sports Court to attract hundreds of young people and adults to an environment sharing Christian values.

Later, on the upper part of the lot along our busy street front we will put up a building to develop a foundation that works with boys, girls, youth and adults to break cycles of poverty, violence, and drug addiction among many other problems. We will achieve this by teaching classes in English, computer, robotics, programming, and other similar courses. The goal is to prepare people to get good jobs and to add value to their lives and communities.

Last but not least, we want to complete the construction of the current sanctuary, kitchen, dining room and classrooms, in order to start an educational center focused on boys and girls. Initially it will be a daycare, but over time it will develop into an elementary school.

Partner together with this church to help them be the hands and feet of Jesus in their community!
