The ministry of the Church of the Nazarene Amazon District of Brazil has the challenge of reaching isolated peoples in the Amazon with salvation and transformation. Within just the state of Amazonas, there approximately 7,500 isolated riverside communities. There are 340 ethnic groups, with a Christian presence in only 182, leaving 158 ethnic groups to be reached. There are 181 indigenous languages in Brazil, most of which are in the Amazon.
Approximately 80% of these communities were not reached with the gospel. That means approximately 500,000 people live in these isolated areas in the jungle, unreached by the gospel and in need of salvation.
The people who live in the communities live with few financial resources, surviving on what they can extract from the forest and rivers. Consistent, powerful compassionate ministry can open the door to sharing the life-changing message of hope through Jesus Christ.
The Church of the Nazarene in Brazil is acting to meet these needs! The boat called "Jesus, Hope" has been an instrument of great importance to enable the Church to reach isolated places. The church is working to bring education, health care, food and the hope found through Christ to these areas. Your financial assistance will help to continue making this possible!
