Monte Sinaí Church of the Nazarene serves its local community in Quito, Ecuador, in many ways, and God has richly blessed this faithful congregation. It was struck hard financially during the pandemic, but despite the challenges, they remained highly motivated to continue sharing about Jesus, discipling, and growing to be more like Christ.
The church began with a group of 25 people who met in a very simple structure, but has grown through its 23 years. A Work and Witness team that visited in 2002 helped to construct the current building, which seats 230 people. It was a big dream that they would need that much room, but the church now faces the wonderful problem of having outgrown even the current sanctuary! There are 300 members as of early 2023, and the church continues to grow.
This area is not one with many financial resources, but church members have been faithful to give towards the work of the church. They recognize the need for more space to welcome more neighbors to their congregation, and so they have already raised $40,000 and have committed to raise $10,000 more towards the construction of a new, spacious sanctuary.
The architectural drawings show a light-filled space with both ground floor and balcony seating. The renovated entrance area includes both stairs and a gently sloping ramp in order to make the sanctuary accessible to everyone.
Total cost: $70,000
Amount raised or committed by the Monte Sinai congregation: $50,000
Amount remaining to be raised: $20,000
Will you help to make this dream a reality along with our brothers and sisters in the Monte Sinai Church of the Nazarene?
