SEMA – (Mapenzi bila chuki) is Swahili, which translates to Speak Out — ( Love Without Hate), is a Kenya Gender-Based Violence Partnership (KGBVP) program that seeks to change attitudes and prevent stereotypical thinking around gender issues. It also works to facilitate behavior change by overcoming negative gender norms and advocate for policies that promote gender inclusion in the communities, campuses and secondary schools.
Leaders shared in late 2022 that SEMA has been able to help support communities living in Dandora dumpsite, one of the largest dumpsites in the world. The project provides participants with alternative sources of incomes and holistically improves their standards of living.
It supports:
- High School education scholarships to 9 girls from vulnerable families.
- Nutritional meals provided to students in the school program at the center.
- Skills training to over 90 small- scale businesses owned by women in the community.
Your financial support will be an investment into the lives of women and girls in this community, promoting a Christ-like perspective of the value of women and practical support to help girls reach their full potential. Thank you for your interest in supporting a bright future for women in Kenya!
