The House of Light began as an Arabic / Dutch, bilingual church plant in July 2020 in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Integrating these two very different cultures has been challenging, yet church members strongly believe that a multiculturally community reflects the love of God. Both the Dutch-speaking and Arabic-speaking believers have been encouraging and learning from one another, offering their strengths to build up the community. People from other faith backgrounds are coming to know Jesus!
The church was excited for a local believer to lead weekly, specialized outreach beginning in November 2022. She is originally from Morocco and is ministering in a place where many from her home country have settled. This outreach is in partnership with another Christian group that provides a clothing store and a place to eat together, but does not have an associated church. They are hoping this connection will lead to a new Arabic Bible study group soon.
The church is also involved in outreach through language classes and coffee conversations in a different location. A new refugee center will open nearby in January 2023, and they are eager to find the new opportunities for connection they foresee it bringing.
As of late 2022, a Bible Study group held one a church member’s home is studying the life of Joseph and using that as a beginning point for discussing deeper traumatic experiences. This group has welcomed new members recently, and the participants are mainly young people.
